Scott got Mac OS X for his birthday. We've been trying to install it. HA! We paid over a hundred dollars for this stuff, and it is NOT, as it was promised, "EASY." Yes, yes, I realize that is not totally their fault, but it's starting to get ridiculous. "You need firmware." Okay, I get firmware. "No, no, not really, FIRST you have to upgrade to 9.2.2" Ummm...why the flying hell would I want to upgrade to 9.2.2 just so I can turn right around and upgrade to OS X??? Okay, fine, dammit, I'll upgrade to 9.2.2. Oops, for some reason the computer won't do that because it says it can't find the internet connection, even though I'm connected. Go to their website, find the damn download for 9.2.2 there, but then all the little warnings and how-to's at the bottom get me all worried and nervous because *I* don't know if I need to install auto or manual or stick shift or whatever!
No wonder Scott gave up last night.
Oh wait. Here, see the kids playing in the snow.
We are TRYING to drink the Kool-Aid! It won't LET us! :P It keeps telling us we have the wrong dixie cups!
Seriously, the installer has us jumping through these hoops. First we got that whole firmware thing worked out. Then we had to upgrade to 9.2.2 BUT you can't just jump from 9.0.2 to 9.2.2. OH NO! You have to hit all the damn lilypads on your way across the pond! So the 9.2.2 upgrade took us 2 hours to download, then it wouldn't work until we downloaded 9.1, which was supposed to take about 4 hours, and right around the 3.5 hour mark, the computer froze up. (Picture me and Scott screaming, writhing on the floor and pulling our hair out.)
So now I'm finishing up the kids' lessons so we can start that damn download again. I THINK after this one we can install OS X. But really I don't know. We are at the mercy of the installer, and it may want to toy with us a little longer. Maybe it will want a gin & tonic. Or a blowjob. Who knows?

Aww, I wanna play in snow with children!
Wow. We didn't have any problems installing, even when we kept Classic at first. (I don't use OS 9 at all anymore.)
Just install auto. It will all be fine. Join us...drink the kool-aid.
I crack me up.
