So, it was a good day because I got to go on a date with my husband (our very late 10 year anniversary celebration-10 years, can you believe it?? Ladies, we are OLD! ;)
Anyway, we went to see Return of the King (the last Lord of the Rings movie) and that was very very good. (I won't say any more in case you two are planning to see it.) We also went out to lunch afterward, and that was good. Then we raced home so I could make it to work in time. Work was good except for my last delivery: two immature airmen in the dorms decided for some inconceivable reason to fuck with me and send me up & down stairs way, way too many times before I finally found them, in the "wrong" building. I, of course, apologized for the delay and just said that whomever took the order must have typed in the wrong number. He quickly jumped in with "Well I told her building 1234." I really, really wanted to say "Honey, I am a mother. I *know* when little boys are lying," but of course I didn't. Argh.
So, what made this good day a really great day? I almost got hit by a truck. Stress on that ALMOST part. I had no idea that you could feel so grateful for that ALMOST part. I was very, very lucky that the driver was paying attention, because I had absolutely no clue he was there! I had stopped at the guard shack to go get my driver's license, and the truck in the nearest lane stopped at the crosswalk for me. I started running across, and fortunately the truck that was on the other side in the far lane, which I didn't see, had good brakes and a driver with quick reflexes. Okay, so granted it was probably only doing about 25 mph, but even so I am pretty sure that it would have at least hurt like hell to get hit by it.
And so, even the immature airmen running me around like a rat in a maze was not enough to make this anything less than a great day. (They even tipped me $2-go figure.)
I'm grateful for almost, too. Whew!
